Day 1 — Arrival in Sumbawa, Transfer to Labuan Jambu

After meeting our local team, we drive toward Labuan Jambu, the main gateway area for whale shark trips in Saleh Bay.

Along the way, you can enjoy Sumbawa’s rural landscapes, coastal roads, local villages, hills, and quieter island atmosphere. This first day is designed to help you arrive, settle in, and prepare for the whale shark experience the next morning.

In the afternoon or evening, check in at the hotel near Labuan Jambu. Your local guide or crew will give a short briefing about the next morning’s boat trip.

Day 2 — Whale Shark Snorkeling in Saleh Bay and Sunset Trip

Early in the morning, around 04:00 AM, we depart by boat to the whale shark point in Saleh Bay.

Morning is usually the best time to look for whale sharks because the sea is calmer and the local fishing platforms are active around the bay.

When whale sharks are found, the local crew will guide the snorkeling session. You can enter the water, keep a respectful distance, and enjoy swimming near these gentle giants.

After the snorkeling session, we return to Labuan Jambu for breakfast and rest.

In the late afternoon, we continue with a sunset trip around the Labuan Jambu coastal area. Depending on the weather and local conditions, you may visit the mangrove island area and watch flying foxes leaving their resting place around sunset.

This makes the second day more relaxed and gives you a chance to enjoy Sumbawa beyond the whale shark experience.
