We’d leave Bali the day before you hope to visit Paserang. That’s our first suggestion for anyone planning Paserang Island from Bali, especially if there’s a flight home waiting at the other end of the holiday.
You can travel through Lombok and cross to Poto Tano in West Sumbawa, then continue with a locally arranged boat. We’d separate that journey from your island outing. There are several connections involved, and none becomes faster because you’ve booked something immediately afterwards.
The beach can wait until you’ve slept.
We'd make Paserang Island from Bali part of a longer escape.Getting to Paserang Island from Bali
The first thing we’d ask is where you’re staying in Bali. Ubud? Somewhere near Padangbai? That answer changes the departure plan before we’ve even looked at the sea crossing.
Taking the public ferry means travelling from Padangbai to Lembar in Lombok. You’d then cross Lombok by road to Kayangan for the ferry to Poto Tano. We’d be quite clear about that road section. Lembar and Kayangan aren’t neighbouring departure points where you simply walk off one boat and onto another.
It’s a proper journey.
Flying to Lombok is worth comparing if a suitable service operates on your date. We’d look at the arrival time as carefully as the fare, though, because you’ve still got eastern Lombok to reach before crossing to Sumbawa.
Neither choice gets a universal recommendation from us. Someone who enjoys travelling slowly may be happy with the ferry route; a family arriving tired from an international flight might feel differently.

We’d decide where you’re sleeping before booking the boat
There’s a point in travel planning when another connection starts to feel like work. We’d try to stop before that point, particularly if you’ve already spent the morning getting out of Bali.
A night in Lombok could make sense if you arrive late. Reaching the Poto Tano area first could work better with an earlier departure and workable connections. We’d choose after seeing the actual plan, not just the date written beside it.
Sleep first. Once you’re within practical reach of the departure point, we can discuss a Paserang Island day trip without making the boat crew wait for a ferry that hasn’t arrived.
We’d confirm accommodation availability before suggesting a particular place. Arriving in Sumbawa Besar also puts you in a different position from arriving at Poto Tano, so your overnight stop shouldn’t be chosen by the word “Sumbawa” alone.
How we’d divide the holiday
A useful Paserang Island from Bali itinerary gives the outward journey its own space. We’d then keep an island day available once you’re nearby, followed by enough time for wherever you’re going next.
Three parts. That doesn’t necessarily mean three calendar days, and we’d be wary of anyone promising the whole arrangement before seeing your arrival and departure details.
If you’ve got a little extra time, we’d spend it on a comfortable overnight stop before adding another attraction. An unhurried breakfast can be more welcome than another early alarm when you’ve travelled across from Bali.
We’d allow extra time for a Paserang Island from Bali trip.
Continuing east across Sumbawa? We’d place Paserang towards the beginning of that journey. Returning to Bali? We’d allow a margin before your flight rather than put the last ferry connection against an airline check-in deadline.

What we’d leave open on the island day
We wouldn’t fill every hour. After the transfers, you may be perfectly happy spending some time beside the water, with a swim if the conditions and your confidence suit it.
That’s enough.
Snorkelling can be discussed with the local crew, but we’d leave the location and timing to their assessment on the day. Clear water in a photograph doesn’t tell us what the wind will be doing during your visit.
We’d also talk about getting aboard. If you’re travelling with an older parent or someone who finds uneven steps difficult, the boarding arrangement deserves an honest conversation before payment.
With children, we’d want their ages and swimming confidence. We’d confirm suitable life jackets, then discuss how much boat time feels sensible for your family. Shade and toilet arrangements are worth clarifying too; we wouldn’t assume the facilities match a resort in Bali.
Your suitcase probably doesn’t want a beach day
We’d travel light for the island outing wherever an agreed luggage arrangement makes that possible. A dry change of clothes is useful; carrying your entire holiday wardrobe onto the boat usually isn’t.
Less to handle.
For us, the practical conversation includes drinking water and protection from the sun, along with somewhere dry for a phone. We’d settle what’s provided before you leave, so you aren’t trying to solve a small problem at the departure point.
We’d take rubbish back with us. Around the water, we’d avoid standing on coral or disturbing animals for a closer photograph. And in the villages, we’d keep clothing respectful and ask before taking someone’s picture.

Would we add Moyo or Saleh Bay?
Possibly, with more nights. We’d discuss Moyo Island alongside the next part of your Sumbawa journey, including where you’d stay before another boat outing.
No quick add-on. Trying to fit it behind Paserang simply because both are islands can leave you spending more of the holiday transferring than enjoying either place.
The same goes for Labuhan Jambu. We’d look at the road journey and an overnight stay before suggesting a Sumbawa whale shark private trip, especially if you’re already tired from travelling through Lombok.
And we’d be honest about the wildlife. Whale sharks aren’t guaranteed to appear; natural conditions and daily activity in Saleh Bay affect sightings. We wouldn’t support touching or chasing them, and feeding or blocking their movement isn’t part of a respectful encounter.
Can I go from Bali and return the same day?
We wouldn’t recommend it. With several separate connections involved, we’d expect the journey to take over the day and leave too little room for Paserang itself.
Is there a best month to book?
We’d look beyond the month. Seasonal patterns can help with planning, but we’d still discuss local conditions near departure and keep some flexibility around the boat day.
Does a private booking cover pickup in Bali?
Only if that’s expressly agreed. We’d put the starting point and transport inclusions in writing, so a local boat booking doesn’t get mistaken for the whole journey.
What should I send you first?
Your Bali departure location and travel date would help us most. For your Paserang Island from Bali plans, we’d also like to know how many people are coming and when you have to be back.
You can reach Adventure Sumbawa through the official website. Tell us the budget and time you have available, and we’ll discuss availability alongside a workable route. If the connections look too tight, we’d say so before you build the rest of your holiday around them.
